Fanfare St. Antoni

Fanfare St. Antoni makes a stirring opener for concerts and events. It was commissioned in 2016 by Timothy M. Smith in celebration of his tenth season conducting the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra in the San Francisco Bay Area. The music subtly adapts and incorporates elements from the famous Chorale St. Antoni on which Johannes Brahms’ Variations on a Theme of Haydn is based.

This version was made in 2018 to facilitate performance with organ and smaller brass forces.

The ensemble had a bass trombonist, instead of a tubist, so Sierra Suite was conceived for bass trombone (instead of tuba) on the lowest part, but tuba may be used.
